Abia state Governor Okezie Ikpenzu approved the reduction of fees in the state-owned university as a measure to reach out to the poor and encourage indigenes of the state. This is an excellent way to promote and encourage our youths to acquire education at an affordable cost.

This information was disclosed by the commissioner of information Bonnie Iwuoha. We hope that the youths (indigenes) will embrace and make use of the opportunity presented to them.

ASSU has revealed that all universities in Nigeria are in a state of the funding crisis and it is not getting any better.

According to the concerns by ASSU, the chairman of ASSU Dr. Beke Sese stated that the government is reluctant to implement earned academic allowances to lecturer’s non-payment of salaries, pensions of university academic staff, the appointment of vice chancellor and renegotiation of the 2009 agreement.

The Chinese government through the Confucius institute of Nnamdi Azikiwe University have awarded scholarships to 54 students to further their education in china. Three (3) awardees will be sponsored by the Chinese government while the others will be sponsored by the Confucius institute.

The federal polytechnic Bida Niger state has concluded arrangement to introduce 16 new courses which include welding and fabrication, taxation, insurance, mechatronic, pharmaceutical technology, nutrition, leisure and tourism and computer engineering. This was disclosed by the rector of the institute Dr. Abubakar Dzukogi.
